Closed Metaverse

A Metaverse that relies on more centralized systems of operation is known as a closed Metaverse. Their transactions or land may not be handled on the blockchain. Well-known closed Metaverses include Fortnite and Meta.

In the past, closed Metaverses have significantly benefited from the noticeable control and quality related to walled gardens. In recent years, though, closed Metaverses have also been challenged for failing to reward players for their gaming time in an equitable way, and even for censoring entire groups. Open Metaverses, though, are not immune to such issues either.
